Something about this art museum takeover really angers me; the sleezly way it was done. It's not mentioned, so it's prolly a Rep Gov.? in Penn.

Pedal-powered e-mail in the Laos jungle

Pedal-powered e-mail in the jungle / 2 Bay Area visionaries head to Laos with a tough little PC for villagers

"It will be the first time a human-powered computer has ever linked a Third World village to the Internet by wireless remote. And the two Americans who will make this possible -- one a Navy veteran who became a leader in the Vietnam anti-war movement two generations ago, the other a founding pioneer of Silicon Valley -- plan to be at his side as he pedals. "

More bike powered comm in remote areas would be a good thing.
I wonder about it for Kenya? Prolly electricity is already there, although bike powered battery backup should be a good idea, too.

Michael to the Democratic Party

TCS: Tech Central Station - An Open Letter to the Party of Wilson and Roosevelt

"A lot of liberals and moderates are vexed with a troubling question: In the age of terrorism, is it still safe to support the Democratic Party?"

I commented that it's the Human Rights War(s).

(via Glenn) A fine note on why German "good men" Gutmensch don't understand 9/11

"The fact that all countries (except France) who signed the letter of eight in support of the United States were under Nazi reign is remarkable, because they know that there are worse things than war. "

Others, like Slovakia, added a bit later remember the commies.

I certainly think Bush's gov't has been, is, and will abuse my patriotism, and that of most who will vote GOP. But the Dems seem more eager to score little anti-Bush rhetorical points than to make America safer, or the world better.

Iraq, and surviving Iraqis, are better for the liberation from an evil. That's good. No matter how terrible Bush is in other ways, Bush did a really big, good thing.

If (when?) North Korea uses a nuke, will that justify a pre-emptive strike against Iraq? I think so, and fear so, but am certain the idiotarians will blame the US. Iraq was a threat. I sort of wish Clinton had pushed and shoved harder on NK, so that it could have remained a smaller threat. Iraq is certainly part of the WOT, though not certainly requiring an invasion. But the goodness of the liberation is based on sure humanitarian grounds.
